Jack in the Box

By thehamburgler

OK, we’ve all been there…so I’m probably not telling you anything that you didn’t know.  But there are Jack in the Boxes in Silicon Valley, and they serve burgers, so my quest must be fulfilled.

It was hard to know what to choose, I usually try to either go for the signature burger of a place, or for the “special of the moment”.  Everything seems to be a special at Jack In The Box.  I went with the BBQ Bacon Sirloin Burger.

This was rated at the DeAnza Blvd location in Cupertino.

TASTE – Better than expected.  This burger was fairly well put together.  The flavors seems too bold (mostly the BBQ sauce and the meat).  The cheese and bun and even the onion rings (to a lesser extent) are over powered by the rich sirloin and bold BBQ sauce.  Score: 40

SELECTION – Jack in the Box serves nearly anything that you could think of, Mexican food, breakfast, and about a dozen burger/sandwiches.  I choose to “upgrade” to the criss cross fries.  Score:8

CREATIVITY/X-FACTOR – Not rocket science here, but a good value for my 5 bucks or so.  Score:5

RESTAURANT – The restaurant is just barely hanging on the good side of becoming a “dirty, scummy place”.  It really needs some TLC to have a good appearance.  The counter folks were nice enough, and they got my order right.  Score:3

EXTRAS/FRESHNESS/ETC – The beef was better than you usually get in a fast food joint.  The onion rings, fries and bun, weren’t bad…but they certainly weren’t fresh.  Score:3

SERVICE – It is a counter service place, service seemed slower than I expected.  Score:2

OVERALL SCORE 61 out of 100.
